MetaCanvas Emerging Artists Open Call 2027: 'First, MetaCanvas'

MetaCanvas Gallery is opening an exhibition to discover new artists, and is looking for emerging artists to show with us. Selected artists hold a solo show at our gallery in Samseong-dong, Seoul, and get their own room in our 3D online gallery that stays open after the show.

How to apply

At a glance

Who: Age 39 or under, or three solo exhibitions or fewer (either one is enough)
Graduates: Students graduating in February 2027 are welcome
Media: Two-dimensional work: painting, drawing, printmaking, photography
Selected: 4 artists
Format: A solo exhibition for each selected artist, held one after another
Exhibition: From Jan 12, 2027; dates agreed with each artist
Deadline: Nov 2 – Nov 30, 2026

Terms

Costs: No application or rental fee. Artists deliver and collect their works; the gallery installs the show
Sales: Sales are split 50% artist / 50% gallery
Promotion: Poster, leaflet, 3D gallery room, certificates, share page and online catalogue made by the gallery; Instagram and blog promotion; one short artist video

Detailed terms such as settlement, insurance and installation are agreed in a contract after selection.

International artists

Artists based outside Korea are welcome to apply.
Because of the cost of international shipping and travel, we are currently unable to offer a physical exhibition at our Seoul gallery to artists based overseas.
For international applicants, the second-round interview is conducted by email.
Separately, we can show your work in your own room in our 3D virtual gallery, free of charge until December 31, 2026. If works receive purchase inquiries there, we agree on the terms with you at that time. Nothing is charged without your agreement.

What to submit

Portfolio (PDF, up to 20 pages) or images of at least 10 works. High-resolution files are requested after selection.
Artist statement (one page) and CV
List of works you would like to show: title, year, medium, size
Contact details (phone, email) and social media

What we look for

Originality
A consistent body of work
Enough finished works for a show (15 or more recommended)
Potential for exhibition and sales
Willingness to promote the show together

Works and images of selected artists are used to promote the exhibition and in our online gallery.
Copyright stays with the artist. Works that include other people's copyrighted material are not accepted.
